Area 1 - Newsletters and Events
Area 1 News : March 2011
I am sure everyone is glad to be out and about again ….although it was a bit of a shock for those in the West to waken to snow and ice today, fortunately it did not last!
Judging by the number of schedules we are receiving, clubs have thrown off the winter blues and are busy organising training and competitions! We are trying to put these on the area web site, so send your schedules to : area1news@sky.com. Scottish and Northern Equestrian Magazine have also offered to place schedules on their web site. We are very grateful to those clubs who have opened their training to BRC members. A full list of training organised by the Area 1 committee is on the web site: www.brcarea1.org.
As you will remember, last year we were invited to attend the Horse Trials Qualifier run by Area 2. This year Area 22 have agreed to accommodate us. Therefore our Horse Trials Qualifier will be at Brechin on the 21st May. There will be Novice, Intermediate and Open sections.
Kilmacolm and Kilallan member, Fiona Muirhead, will be one of the officials at this year’s Rural Riders. Fiona is a list judge and a TA for British Eventing. She is a great supporter of the Riding Club movement, helping whenever she can.
The schedule for our Fun Team Dressage and Show Jumping competition on the 3rd of April is with club secretaries, and on the web sites. This is open to everyone, so come along and have a good day!
Look forward to seeing you all!
Jennifer

Area 1 News : January 2011
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year, without too many weather related problems.
A successful training day with Linda Penman and Les Smith was held on the 15th January, at SNEC. Many thanks to Almond for organising this.
The next event should have been the re scheduled Winter Show Jumping Qualifier. Unfortunately this has been cancelled due to a lack of competitors. Head Office have kindly agreed to credit the Preliminary Entries.
Training continues with show jumping at Ingliston and Hyndlshawland, there is cross country and show jumping training at Titwood , and Ettrick Forrest have organised cross country training for the 17th April. All the details, bar the EFRA date, are with club secretaries, along with booking forms.
South Lammermuir have organised Hunter Trials at Manderston on the 3rd April. Clubs are reminded they have to nominate a venue to act as their Qualifier for the Northern Championships. The form is on the BRC web site, along with the Preliminary Entry form. More than one club can nominate the same venue.
The 3rd of April is the date for the new Area Dressage and Show Jumping Team Competition. The venue is the Stewarton Livery Yard, Stewarton, Ayrshire. There are separate classes for dressage and show jumping, with four levels, therefore those who enjoy dressage and jump for fun ( or vice versa!) can compete at the level that suits. League points will be awarded to 10th place. More point scoring opportunities will be available at the summer Qualifiers, and hopefully, at the Final in September. Training vouchers will be awarded to the winners. This competition is open to non BRC riders, providing they produce evidence of their insurance, and there will be similar sections at the summer competitions.
It probably goes without saying that we must all be hoping that we can now start riding again! I hope the year goes well for you all, and that you enjoy your horses.

Open Dressage : 5th June
Dressage to Music and Pairs : TBC
Show Jumping : 19th June
