Message from Sarah Philips, BRC

The new membership lists submission seems to be working well and 9049 BRC members will be receiving their new membership card next week. I can now reveal that the membership card doubles as a NAF privilege card which gives BRC members 10% discount on all NAF products purchased online at the NAF website. NAF have used the new BRC membership card to launch a new online NAF shop which just goes to show the power of sponsorship and working in partnership.

Riding Competitions for All

Competing from the comfort of home

New for 2010, British Riding Clubs (BRC) has teamed up with Interdressage to offer dressage and style jumping competitions for all horse riders. This new League is aimed at the grass roots rider and gives BRC members the opportunity to compete internationally and win fabulous prizes for themselves and their riding club or riding club centre – no matter where they ride.

The prizes have been kindly donated by two equestrian companies. Quality Show Jumps will be donating vouchers that can be used by the winning club and centre to obtain new fences. The top riders in both categories and their trainers will each receive £125 of Ride-Away vouchers.

The dressage tests just need to be videoed and submitted to Interdressage for judging. All that is required is a level surface with markers. The new league will be divided into two sections – one for BRC members and one for BRC riding club centre members.

This new League will be available online at www.interdressage.com and will run from May 2010 to April 2011 under Interdressage rules. Competitors in both sections are also automatically entered into Interdressage’s monthly competitions. For further information please call Annette Falkingham: 01926 707861 or visit www.interdressage.com

Downgrading for BRC Competitions

From 1 January 2011 BRC will be changing the rules regarding downgrading for BRC competitions. As a result of feedback from our members we have decided that anyone who would like to downgrade their horse for BRC competitions can complete a downgrading form and support it with an accompanying letter explaining why they wish to downgrade their horse. We will be looking at each application on a case by case basis, taking into consideration the horse and riders age, past achievements, injuries and current levels of performance. For more information please contact Rachael Hollely in the BRC office on 02476 840597.
