Message from Sarah Philips (BRC)

"The new membership lists submission seems to be working well and 9049 BRC members will be receiving their new membership card next week. I can now reveal that the membership card doubles as a NAF privilege card which gives BRC members 10% discount on all NAF products purchased online at the NAF website. NAF have used the new BRC membership card to launch a new online NAF shop which just goes to show the power of sponsorship and working in partnership."

Flatwork Clinic with Stuart Walker - Sunday 4th Dec 2011

Well, it was rather a cold and frosty evening last night, but everyone, who planned to, made it to the Clinic with Stuart Walker.

The lessons comprised 3 riders/horses in most groups but due to demand, there was one group of 4. These numbers seemed to work well and the general feedback so far has been very positive from the riders with everyone feeling they have things to work on.....the horses were all very well behaved and there was plenty of room for everyone.

Stuart's lessons mainly concentrated on encouraging the horses to work "long and low" during schooling, keeping them relaxed and stretched over their back.....easier for some than others (Fred Anderson!) and ultimately build strength over the back muscles in preparation for more advanced work later. He also advises when schooling your horse, have a goal in mind for your session. This will help keep things interesting and positive for you and your horse.

It is hoped to have Stuart back again in the New Year, so keep your eyes peeled for dates.

Finally, many thanks to those of you who helped on the day and to all who braved the bitter cold to take part.  Thanks also to Dawn for use of Tannoch's facilities and obviously, to Stuart Walker.

Next.....Martin Arnott Clinic!!!!!

10th October 2011
News

Following the RC AGM earlier this month, the RC Committee accepted the retiral of Janice McKenna (Chairperson), Jean McKail (Secretary) and Michelle Canney (Events). Although they have stepped down from the Committee, they will continue as members of the RC and, on behalf of all members, would like to thank Janice, Jean and Michelle for their efforts over this last year and wish them every success in the future.

3 new Committee members were appointed and it is with great pleasure that we welcome : Hazel Hiram (Hon Chairperson), Fiona Higgins (Hon Secretary) and Gillian Cameron and hope they enjoy continuing to keep TSRC moving forward and increasing the profile of the Club - we've come a long way in the last year, thanks to the hard work by the Committee and support of the members. Thanks to everyone.

The Area 1 AGM takes place on 13th November '11 at The Cartland Bridge Hotel, Lanark, commencing 1.30pm.  Hazel and Fiona are planning to attend as the representatives of TSRC, however, all are welcome and any members wishing to attend, please contact the RC using the Contact form on this website.

Members will be aware that membership renewal is due by end of the year. All members have been emailed reminding them of this with a renewal form. Any new members are invited at this time and should contact the RC via the contact form on the Membership page.

The Committee are very aware that there has been little activity for the Riding Club over the last few months and aims to amend this for the coming year. It has been proposed that we arrange monthly clinics, alternating jumping and flatwork. At present, Martin Arnott has agreed to come at the end November and we hope to invite him back in Jan and hopefully March. Inbetween, and following the great feedback we received from members after his last visit, it is hoped to arrange dates with Richard Johnston-Smith for flatwork. Keep an eye on this page for further details.
